Since graduating, things have gone well. I have recently applied for a job at a small company developing sustainable power supplies for remote communities. The interview went well and they seemed very interested in my final year project as it represents the most cutting-edge technology. However, they they expressed some concern about my ability to translate my academic knowledge into a workable, commercial product. They have therefore asked for a reference from you to support my application. So, I am writing to ask if you would be willing to write me a reference letter. If you are happy to do so, the letter would need to confirm that you felt that my project was technically viable and that I have the engineering skills to develop it into a workable product. CELPIP 4-5 Response To: Manager For me, I would prefer to have the gym instead of swimming pool cause especially during winter time a pool is not useful. The gym is better cause every of us needs some exercise when done in work and most of all it can be relaxing for the health of the tenants. I love biking in the gym and use lots apparatus of the gym . And I make leisure time of myself its because whole weekend I’m busy of work . The good thing is it lesser the time than we go in other fitness center. I’m hoping lots of tenants wants the gym instead of swimming pool. I know there’s a lot of lovers of fitness especially the weather is so cold. And later we you can build a good relationship to your tenant . Make sure that what your tenants want you must support the opinion.

CELPIP 7-8 Response Hi, So here are my reasons for keeping the swimming pool. First of all, I use this pool every day, along with a number of other residents. We also have parties here and swimming lesions for the young children in the building. I think that swimming is a better way to get exercise, as it is easier on your joints and bones because it is a low impact activity. We also have water aerobics every morning and evening for all ages. The pool just needs a little TLC but a gym would need to have a new space and new equipment and would be very costly. It would be very easy for someone that does not know what they are doing to get badly hurt in the gym on some of the heavy equipment. Another point about the swimming pool is that it’s so great to help cool down in the summer. Also, there is a brand new gym only three blocks from here and they have great new starter deals that I think the residence might be very happy with. I hope this helps. Filipe

CELPIP 10-12 Response Dear Apartment Manager, Thank you for your invitation to complete a survey regarding the issue of the swimming pool in the building. As a long-time resident of this building, I feel that the swimming pool is out dated and in much need of repair. In the time I have been a resident here, I have never used the pool facility and consider it to be unnecessary. It is my opinion that it would be far more beneficial to residents of the building if you were to consider installing a small gym instead of renovating the swimming pool. After speaking with a number of my neighbours, it seems that many would favour the gym instead of the swimming pool particularly due to the cold weather in Calgary often making the idea of swimming unappealing. I know that a number of residents would prefer to have gym here in the building so it would enable them to exercise at various times of the day and also cut down on the additional expense of an outside gym membership.
