Read the following message. New Brunswick lies entirely within the Appalachian Mountain range. All the rivers of New Brunswick drain into either the Gulf of Saint Lawrence to the east or into the Bay of Fundy to the south. The Reversing Rapids – found where the St. John River meets the Bay of Fundy – is a phenomenon worth seeing.

How are you? Did you miss me? Of course, you did. Now stop rolling your eyes at me. I know you are mad at me for not writing back when I reached here.

I know you wanted to see me off but I had to meet Daniel in Downtown. So, first off, I am really sorry for that, but I’ve got to tell you I had a great time there. His mother gave me some novels to read which I read on the way. She was so sweet that she herself dropped me to the Edmonton Airport on Monday and that too 4 hours before boarding.

I completed all the formalities well before time. She told me everything on the way and I took the flight at around 3 am. It was an eight-hour journey but Sherry in the Woods and Arthur Colonel Adventures proved to be a great companion. I had a stopover at Kansas City for around 4 hours, so I decided to explore that place. The sunshine was so soothing and I was short of time. Rather than exploring my usual favourites - National Museum of Kansas City, Art Gallery of Picasso, and Fanny’s Aquariums, I decided to have fun in Oceans of Fun and The Bay Water Park. I have attached the pictures. The experience was exhilarating to say the least. After spending three hours there, I went back to the Airport and finally by 10 pm I was in Texas, my dream city.

After this exhaustive journey, I chilled out at aunt Rose’s place for a day . Then I went to the campus the next day for the orientation. I will never get over the memories of that day; it was like a roller coaster ride. I was greeted by Stacy Collins, a student representative of the author’s club. I met many like-minded authors and the students in the Literary Club, in which I enrolled on the very first day. Without a doubt, coming to Mount Litrera University was the best decision ever. I even made two friends; Rocky is a dramatist and Ronald is a guitarist, and they both instantly connected with me when I attended the play-writing lecture after my orientation. Then, we exchanged numbers and I went for an excursion this weekend with them.

Now, I hope you can understand why I was not able to write to you for the whole week. Anyhow, don’t worry about me. Aunt is taking good care of me and I will soon look for my own place to crash. See you soon.

A. The Saint Elias Mountains are a subgroup of the Pacific Coast Ranges, located in south-eastern Alaska in the United States, south-western Yukon and the very far north-western part of British Columbia in Canada. This mountain range was named after Mount Saint Elias which had been named in 1741 by the Danish explorer, Vitus Bering. Vitus Bering became the first official European discoverer of north-western America when he sighted the peak from his ship, the St. Peter, on July 16, 1741. The first ever ascent was made by a party led by the Duke of Abruzzi on July 31, 1897.

B. The St. Elias mountain range is an area of superlatives; it contains the largest non-polar ice-field in the world, the highest number of surging glaciers, the most seismically active mountains on earth, the largest protected area on the planet, and the highest, youngest and fastest-growing peaks in Canada. These mountains began as an area of volcanoes about 15 million years ago, when the floor of the Pacific Ocean started sinking beneath the continental margin near coastal Alaska. With this uplifting, faulting and folding of the earth’s crust, the mountains now known as the St. Elias range were born. On average, three earthquakes a day rock the earth here. In 1899, one earthquake raised the ground over 10 metres in less than two minutes. Owing to these changes, St. Elias mountain range is among the most precipitous ranges in the world.

C. The mountain range spans Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve in the United States and Kluane National Park and Reserve in Canada and includes all of Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska. In Alaska, the range includes parts of the city/borough of Yakutat and the Hoonah-Angoon and Valdez-Cordova census areas. The mountains are divided by the Duke Depression, with the shorter, more rounded Kluane Ranges to the east, and the higher Ice field Ranges to the west. Sub-ranges of Saint Elias include the Alsek Ranges, the Fairweather Range, and the Centennial Range.

D. Recent changes in climate have sped the melt of the glaciers of the St. Elias Mountains. The reduced pressure on the earth’s crust may contribute to the rapid rise of these dynamic mountains. The St. Elias Mountains rise from the shore of the north-east Pacific, blocking the wet oceanic air masses as they blow eastward. They force this air upwards, cooling it and trapping heavy precipitation, particularly winter snow. Snow accumulations of 7 metres or more is common. These enormous snow loads feed the formation of the ice-fields.

Taking to Twitter, a young actress Rachael Adams lamented how much paparazzi were harassing her. She said, ’’I knew the paparazzi were going to be a reality in my life, but I didn’t know that I would feel anxiety every time I open my front door, or that being surrounded or chased feels invasive and makes me feel scared and gets my adrenaline going every day.’’

This has stirred a long debate on social media and even the tabloids as to whether being a public figure means your life belongs to the public. Many have shared their views both from cinema and media as to what they feel.

Daniel Solovey, Editor of The Guardian said, ’’Paparazzi thrive because photos of celebrities thrive on the market and can fetch tens of thousands of dollars- sometimes hundreds of thousands of dollars or even millions.’’ However, Mariana Gosling, Chief Journalist at CBC tried to refute this stance while referring to the legal proceedings of illegal sale of pictures taken by the paparazzi and said, ’’Do we look to what the public really wants? More people might be interested in paparazzi photos of Rachael Adams than a photo of the President giving a speech. Are we really doing our job responsibly? We need to respect the rights of the people regardless of their status.’’

There are some who noted the frequent scorn that celebrities are given when complaining about their lack of privacy. Nina Dobrev on a celebrity chat show said, ’’The argument that celebrities should have no privacy often boils down to the fact that people really enjoy celebrity gossip, that celebrities are rich and famous and thus, get great benefits by being celebrities, and that celebrities somehow consented to this Faustian bargain by becoming celebrities.’’ She further expressed that celebrities don’t really consent to lose their privacy. That gives it a false sense of legitimacy. There’s no contract that says that in order to be famous, one has to surrender privacy. Why should being harassed or gossiped about be considered a legitimate job requirement? The fact that some celebrities make a lot of money does not legitimize it either.

Quoting the post from Twitter, when Harley was asked to comment during the launch party of his latest film with Adams, he said, ’’Gossip about celebrities is fun and enjoyable. People crave it like candy. Yes, it causes celebrities harm, but people love gossip. People love the photos that paparazzi take. Admittedly, this is not to deny that my co-actor does not have the right to privacy. I believe that there are ways to draw sensible lines and protect privacy in public but the task will not be easy. It will take its own course of time and I do await that positive change.’’
