I can’t tell you how happy I am that you have decided to volunteer at an animal shelter. I know you have never done this before but trust me, once you experience what it’s like you will love it. As an active volunteer myself, there are a few things I can tell you that will make you well-prepared. Firstly, you must be sure to register as a volunteer with the shelter of your choice. Then, set the date when you would prefer to visit that shelter. Next, you need to know that a lot of the animals at shelters are rescues, that is, they have been brought there after being abandoned or abused. So, they might not be as friendly as you would expect them to be. So, be patient and let them take their time. Let them trust you at their own pace. When approaching an animal be sure to crouch down to their level and hold your hand out for them to reach. Never directly start patting them. It would be good to ask all the questions you need to from the volunteers there as they have experience in handling those animals. You may also have to bathe the animals or clean their enclosures. So, be prepared for that as well. Take some treats with you. Dogs especially love peanut butter. Don’t worry; you’ll do great. Let me know if I can help you with anything else.

I’m much more put together and thorough now than I used to be as a teenager. I have made my fair share of mistakes and still do. There are some I regret more deeply than others. There was one time in high school where we had to do a group project for our history class. We were given 5 important historical events to cover for a presentation. It was a very important project whose grades were to be included in the finals. Since we were 5 members, each of us took one topic. We had a week’s time so I got careless and kept putting off this task. I got distracted by other things and ended up doing nothing. On the day of the presentation, seeing me come empty handed angered the other members but I made some excuses and they let it go. Since we hadn’t covered all the topics, the teacher gave us a lower score. Because of my laid back attitude, everyone else had to suffer such a loss. I felt extremely guilty and came clean to the teacher about not having done my part. The teacher gave us another chance and I took my part seriously this time. We ended up getting a good score. This incident taught me the value of time, sincerity and prioritizing the work which I now follow religiously.

This happy picture can turn out to be merrier looking at the fun-filled activities that people are doing. The little girl building the snowman will finish hers and go to help the boy who has just started building his snowman. Both of them will start working together. The woman celebrating by the snowman may hug the man in excitement. The woman pulling her son on the sledge will get tired soon and take a break. The man with the dog will approach the woman and her dog and the dogs will start playing together, running around, while the owners engage in conversation. The couple with the Christmas tree will stop to look at the big Christmas tree. The boy that is skating carelessly over the ice will fall which will cause the other kids to laugh. Lastly, the man sitting on the bench will get up to help the boy.

Hey Ronny,

I am grateful for your suggestion and it’s a good option but I think we should go with Bontemps over Crab Plate. Firstly, the drive to Bontemps is shorter. Since we would all be going there right after work, it would be better to go for a restaurant that is closer. Moreover, Crab Plate does not provide any valet parking. We will end up wasting a lot of time finding parking spots. The buffet there is also more expensive as compared to Bontemps, which would cost us only $49.99. I think this less expensive option would be acceptable to everyone. In terms of food variety as well, we would be getting more if we choose my option. While Crab Plate only offers crabs, shrimps and fish, Bontemps provides all types of seafood plus other types of meat. Along with the buffet, we would also get a complimentary drink at Bontemps. Although, we may not be getting any dessert options in the buffet there, I feel it’s still better as we can order it off the menu. I hope you’ll agree with my choice.

Thank you for your input. No one else responded to my suggestion so I’m really grateful that you took the time to suggest another option. However, I still feel we should go with Portside Grill. First off the buffet price is lower there as compared to Crab Plate. I think everyone would appreciate the economical option. Moreover, we would also save 15 minutes on the drive there as it’s closer to work than Crab Plate. Though it’s paid, at least we would get valet parking option in Portside Grill. I have heard a lot about their food too. They have all types of seafood available. Meanwhile Crab Plate only has crabs, shrimp and fish. We would also be getting a complimentary drink plus one refill free along with the buffet. Though there aren’t multiple desserts on offer with the buffet at Portside Grill. We can always order something from the menu. Let me know what you think.

Hey Jackie,

I know this last month has been hard on you with Sammy living with us. I understand your concern and realize that we built the upper unit to rent it out and earn extra income. However, I cannot ask Sammy to pay rent. You see there is something I didn’t tell you about Sammy. He is dealing with a huge financial crisis and is technically broke. If we hadn’t taken him in at that time, he would have become homeless. His business partner cheated him and ran off with his money. He committed a lot of fraudulent activities of which now Sammy has to take responsibility. He has been trying to get back on his feet, but it has been quite difficult as he has to repay his partner’s debt too. There’s another thing. You know how he and I have been friends since high school. There was a time when my family had some financial troubles and I was unable to pay my fee. He, knowing the situation, sold his favourite guitar to pay my fee without expecting anything in return. I owe him a lot. So, I don’t feel right asking him for rent at the moment. I hope you can understand my situation and sympathize with Sammy.

I want you to know that I’m beyond happy to have you in my home and you are most welcome to stay as long as you like. I want to talk about something that isn’t easy for me to say. Trust me, if I could do without it I wouldn’t ask you. I know you are dealing with a crisis but I think you should pay rent while you are staying here. You see, we recently remodeled the upstairs unit, where you are staying, in hopes of renting it to someone. We did so as we need extra income. You know we are expecting our first child and Jackie recently lost her job. We are in a bit of financial trouble ourselves. It is really embarrassing for me to ask but I’m afraid I have no choice. We have to start buying baby stuff and building the nursery so we really need the money. I hope you won’t take offence and understand my situation. Let’s get together and decide an amount that works for the both of us.

Juvenile delinquency is a huge issue today and ways of dealing with these underage criminals are always controversial. There isn’t a simple answer for this. I do believe that underage criminals, who consciously commit crimes that cause bodily harm or death to others, must be treated as adults before the court of law. This may seem harsh but the definition of children is beings that are full of innocence and free from malice and if a child is able to let go of that and be so cruel as to commit, say murder, they lose credit as a child. Their psyche is that of an adult. It has been proven that many serial killers gain criminal tendencies in early stages of their childhood. Treating them lightly will endanger other people as they are likely to commit the same crimes again. It also isn’t fair to the aggrieved families that the perpetrators are let free after causing grave harm to them or their loved ones. They deserve the justice.

Hi mom,

I was just driving back from work and something interesting caught my eye. I decided to get a closer look and you won’t believe what I saw. It was a big building that was shaped like a picnic basket. I was so surprised. It genuinely looked identical to a picnic basket. It was painted light brown beige in colour. There were many windows on all sides. The outside wall pattern looked like weaving of a picnic basket. Moreover, it had two big handle like shapes on the top to complete the basket’s look. What’s more astonishing is that it was actually a library. I thought that it would be a restaurant. I went inside and spoke with the receptionist who told me that they are going to be holding a book reading event next weekend there. I know how fond you are of reading so I thought maybe we could go there together. What do you say? Believe you me, you will be captivated by this amazingly unusual library.
