I know you are in a pickle. It sure is daunting to have our current workplace know that you are planning on leaving before you have secured the job. However, I think this will be a good thing. First things first, since the damage is already done, there isn’t much you can do but come clean to your boss. Go to him and tell him your reasons. I think you should tell him that you are just testing the waters to see if there is a better growth perspective for you. Explain to him that you want to grow and explore the field, which is why you were looking for something new. Maybe this will encourage your boss to offer you a better position. You are a valued member after all. Try talking to him about a promotion. It will make things clear for you. My second advice to you would be to look at the situation from his perspective. Try and convince him that you are loyal to the company and wouldn’t have left them high and dry just like that. You need to prove your credibility now more than ever. Lastly, please be sure to double check the recipient before sending a mail like that in the future.

Sometimes, we all need a break. But if we continue to ignore the need for it our body may shut down involuntarily which is what we call a burn out. There was a time when I experienced this situation right before a very important competition. In high school, I was part of my school’s debate team and we had qualified for the finals in an interschool competition. Winning this competition was very important for our school. I worked myself to death, preparing day in and day out. I could feel that I was exhausting myself but I kept going. It got to a point where I was so mentally drained that I could not frame more than 2 sentences. This happened just 3 days before our competition and I became so nervous. My mother suggested that I take a break. I was in such a fix that I had no alternative but to listen to her. She took me to a movie, then we had lunch together and talked all day. We did not talk about the competition at all. I felt refreshed after that and was back to my old self. Due to the break I was able to perform well in the competition and we ended up winning.

This image depicts a workplace, which I for one would not want to be a part of. Judging by the time on the clock I can say that their workday is nearing its end. Maybe this is why there is so much chaos as everyone is rushing to get the work done for the day. At the forefront I see the company’s name stuck on a cubicle wall. It is a risk management company by the name ATC. Right behind this I see a man who is freaking out over something on his computer. His hands are on his head and he is grinding his teeth. Behind him, the table is rather messy with papers and files laid out in a disorderly fashion. A woman is sitting by a cupboard and stocking something in it but the package in her hand seems to have come open. A blonde-haired woman seems to be failing miserably at her job of bringing in coffee, as one cup is already on the floor and another one is about to fall. A man and a woman are playing catch with a stapler, while a man with glasses plays spectator. This is a game which could end up with someone getting badly hurt. A man with a big frown is holding two big boxes and heading somewhere. Near the window a man is trying to shield his computer from the sun’s rays as it distracting him. Lastly, I see a woman who is testing her luck by standing on a chair with wheels, while she looks for something in the cupboard. Behind her, a woman is walking by, totally engrossed in the book she has in her hand.

This is a very chaotic image and I expect things to get even more chaotic. First of all, the man freaking out over something on his computer is bound to have a breakdown, judging from his expression. He will get up from his chair and start pacing here and there. He may also throw the papers laid out on his table. The broken package that the woman is holding will spill all the contents on the floor, while making all the efforts to limit the damage and spill over. The already angry man will get tired of carrying the heavy load and drop it on the floor. The contents of the box may break. The lady carrying the coffee will drop all the cups on the floor which will make the woman in front of her look back. The hot coffee may spill on her causing her to yell. This may lead to an argument between the two. The woman standing on the chair will be startled by the yelling and may slip and fall to the ground. This will make the woman who is about to catch the stapler distracted and she will get hurt. Both the men sitting near her will go to her to help out. The man being blinded by the sun will move to another desk to get away from it. Lastly, as soon as workday is over everyone will rush out, leaving the chaos behind.

It’s really great to see that someone else is also taking an initiative to look for boarding options for our trip to the mountains. While your suggestion is tempting, I think we should go with the mountain retreat. Firstly, we will be able to experience the true beauty of mountains while camping. We can go to a luxury resort anywhere but camping will provide us a true experience of what it’s like to live in the midst of nature. Moreover, the cost of stay at the resort is astronomical. Compared to the mere $10 per night we would be paying three times for the resort. I know the group discount being provided is higher but even after discount the price would be way too high. To add onto this, there is no meal included with the package. This will take the costs even higher. Yes, the luxury resort will provide comfort with the soft beds and the heating, but it’s not worth it. You see that we won’t even be staying in it for that long as we have a full day of activities planned. I think the bonfire by the campsite would be a great experience and we can all sit and talk together, while singing and dancing.

I know how worried you are about Aflie’s studies and want to have an active role in his studies. However, I think home-schooling is not the right choice. He is already 5 years old and growing up so fast. I think he needs to be around kids his age to learn how to coordinate with others. At his age, developing social skills is also important. By going to school, he will be able to bond with the other children and learn the required behaviour. His brain will be stimulated more in that type of a setting. This is a growing stage and he needs to be able to learn these skills so that they become a habit in his life. You know my mom is a kindergarten teacher and she told me how much going to school changes a child’s personality for the better. I think we should send him to her school so she can keep an eye on him also. This will also help you to be assured about his well-being.

Choice 2: I appreciate your concern regarding Alfie’s education. While I understand the importance of a formal education, I think a 5 year old can do without it. Schools today put a lot of pressure on children, even on the younger ones. I do not want Alfie to have to go through that. As a 5 year old I think he should be allowed to learn and explore things at his pace. Moreover, formal education these days is all about memorising things. I want him to actually understand the world and not just memorise facts about it. Dianne and I have made an elaborate plan of action. I think it would be better for our child if he is homeschooled. We also plan on taking him to explore new places so his curiosity is triggered. This won’t be possible if he is enrolled in a regular school.

I think to some extent success does come to those who work for it. But one’s circumstances have a major role to play as well. There are so many hard working people who are not able to attain success. Firstly, I think our families play a part in our lives. People who grow up in loving and nurturing families are better equipped as adults to tackle problems. Secondly, people who are not burdened by major responsibilities on their shoulders have the liberty of pursuing their dreams freely. This takes them a step closer to success. Then there are also some who do have luck on their side. Their circumstances do not let them be successful, no matter how hard they try.

I saw the strangest thing on my way to class today. I was walking to class per usual, minding my business, when I noticed a large group of students gathered around outside the dean’s office. I went to get a closer look and was taken aback by what I saw. The group was gathered there to protest the cutting of trees. But that’s not what I found strange. It’s the way they were protesting that I found strange. A boy had duct taped himself to a tree. He was hanging straight up on a tree. Even his hands were inside duct tape. All the other students were standing around him with signs and boards showing their disdain of the university’s decision. I heard from one of the students that the boy will be staying like that till the decision is overturned. Do you think we should join their protest? I feel like this is an issue you would be passionate about. So let’s take part in the protest together.
